REDnesday Travels

Time for REDnesday. Again I am posting at the end of the day.
I was just too tired to do it yesterday.
Again, thank you to Sue at
We were at our Synod Assembly this past weekend.
I have some REDs to share with you on that.
But first I wanted to tell you about an allergic reaction I had on
May 2.
We were at my mother's house eating Domino's Pizza.
As I was eating I started getting this itching on my face.
I ate my usual 3 slices of pizza which is what I do whenever
we order pizza.
I kept going to bathroom to check the mirror
and was in disbelief that I was reacting to the pizza.
I mean I never reacted to pizza before!!
I told my mother I was reacting to something.
She asked me what I ate and I said
"The Pizza!"
My father and B-Daddy both said it seemed
to taste a little hotter than before.
My mother called Domino's to ask what was different.
They said they have a new sauce and new seasonings, but
the spices they used was not listed separately.
Here are pictures of how I looked on that Monday morning.

RED blotches and lots of swelling around the eyes.
The swelling continued down to my neck as well and
later in the day I was feeling it in my back and chest.
Got itching attacks so bad it drove me crazy.
Even felt internal pain from front to back.
After doing more research we found out it the new sauce
includes red pepper and cumin.
Gives me a place to start when I see the allergist
tomorrow(Thursday).
I am going to print out these pictures to take with me to the allergist.
So, no more Domino's Pizza for me.
I will probably have to check ingredients lists a lot more carefully
as well.
So now some RED from this past weekend!

Remember Helmi?
She never changes her dress!
Always in RED!
Anyway, she did not want to get left behind
and jumped in the suitcase while I was packing.
Then the first morning I could not find her.
Know where she was?

In my stitchery bag!
I guess she decided to sleep there for the night.
All cozy inside the bag.
(Has the technique changed for loading pictures on to a post? It keeps putting them at the top and I have to drag them down to where I want it. Wasn't like that last time I did a post!)
Come on Helmi, time to get out of my bag!
(I hope someone can tell me what I am doing one in posting pictures here.
This dragging business is annoying.)
Here she is looking out of our 11th floor window at the
Silver Legacy.
Strange place to have a convention, but
the do have a large room for holding many people
and seat a large group for a banquet too.
Plus breakout rooms for smaller meetings and workshops.

The theme banners this year had lots of RED.
A RED chair in the lobby area where we had cookie/coffee area. Also the displays were set up in this lobby area too.
Helmi jumped on the table to check things out.
My coffee mug has RED.
RED candy bags.
And our pastor had his agenda and notes in a
RED binder. My notes were in a green one.
Those sunbursts were candy coated sunflower seeds.
Pretty tasty!
There were large screens so everyone could see what was going on.
Here you see the hands of our Bishop with the communion bread.
He has on RED on his stole.
People are waiting to receive communion.
Over 400 people there at least.
There are several places around the room to receive communion which helps to keep it from taking too long.
Long halls in the Silver Legacy.
And lots of RED on the carpet!
The casino area.
Actually, we had to go down the escalator on the right,
then walk around to the left side, and go down again under that
RED car.
And, no, we did not try out the slot machines.
Too busy with the convention.
There was a bowler's event going on there too!
This was the dessert at the assembly banquet.
Yummy!
RED sauce and RED strawberry!
It was a celebration of anniversaries.
Two pastors were honored for their 50 years since
they were ordained.
My parents happen to know both of them AND
both were ordained on the exact same day!
We went last year when it was in Fresno.
Our congregation nominated us to go again this year.
Next year it will be in Burlingame.
Perhaps we will be nominated again!
Hope you all had a great Wednesday!

Morning Linnea,
Oh my how great it was to hear from you hon!! Made my day!!
So sorry to hear about that allergic reaction, wow, that is something.
Hope that is the last time that happens to you!!
Love your new blog look, very pretty, and all your Red pics. The flowers were so pretty, the one with the bee was so neat.
Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite too!!
Thanks for your well wishes for my neck, I did finally get a good nights sleep after 3 nights of just 4 hrs. PTL!!
You mentioned the book I told you about, I pretty sure it was "Lost in the Middle" and the grace of God by Paul David Tripp. Every Christian in midlife needs to read it. That book is so profound and wonderful, it is like reading your bible, but easy reading and so full of truth and wisdom. It has helped my hubby and I so much, Cause ya know so much stuff happens in midlife with health, menopause, parents and children and on and on, so it is a great book to help us gain perspective. Just got a thank you
note from a friend I gave one too
that had just been thru so much stuff with her kids and her parents, her dad died unexpectedly and her Mom had alzheimers and now she has some heart issues, and she said the book really helped her so much!! I happen to have one left and if you would like me to send it to you I would be delighted to do so. Just go to my right sidebar on my blog and send me an email with your address, and I will get it off to you.
We got a Big unexpected surprise yesterday, so we will begin reading ours again to help us keep perspective!!
Hubby got laid off!! This is our 5th time in our almost 40 years of being married, but the Lord has done some awesome things thru those times. I am thinking about doing some blog posts on it.
Well Girlie, so good to hear from you, an hope you are doing really well.
Love and Blessings, Nellie

Hi 'Nea! Wow gal...I broke out in hives in high school because of something I ate on "culture day" where people brought foods from different cultures. Still don't know what it was, and never got hives again! Weird, huh?

It is so cool that those men were honored for so many years of service!! What a blessing to everyone!

Great to see Helmi!! And of course all of the red that goes along with Rednesday!!

Love to you!
Becky

Hi Linnea! I haven't been by in a while and you poor little thing! who would think you'd be allergic to pizza! How wonderful you figured it out and called and asked what had changed. Hope you're better now.
Looks like a great trip you went on and Helmi! Yes, I remember her having fun with Stella!
Be a sweetie,

Well my goodness girl, welcome back. Man, oh man, who would have thought you could be allergic to pizza ingredients. Terrible to say the least. Hope you are on the mend. So happy to see Helmi is doing great. Your convention kept you busy, glad you had a nice time! Can't help with the pictures.

I am always eager to see what photos you come up with each week, you're very creative!

Wow, that's so weird about the allergy! I'm so glad you had a good convention. The hall carpet is pretty!

How scary that must have been to have a reaction like that. From pizza, of all things! Maybe you have developed some new allergies. I know my sister never had allergies until just in the last few years. I hope you find out what it was that caused it, so that you can definitely avoid it in the future! Sorry that you were your own REDnesday entry this week!
Have a good weekend!

Me again. I've been under the weather lately, but my mind keeps coming back to you dear friend. I pray that you are fully recovered and doing well. I pray your heart is full of joy and faith and that your body lets you express all your talents without pain. I don't usually say things like this, but I sense over and over that you are such a special daughter of our Heavenly Father. I can sense how very much He loves you, and I'm thrilled to be your virtual friend~

Yikes! Who would have thought that a little change in ingredients would create such a reaction? They should warn people!

Glad you had so much fun at the convention!
