It is time for Three or More Tuesday again!
Today my theme is cameras.

First is my camera that uses.....what do you call that stuff?
Oh yeah.....film.
Does anyone use cameras with film anymore?
In the picture above, the flash is up.
The camera does not work if that part is not up.
Once on a trip, my husband was having difficulty getting this camera to work.
I finally realized why after he had tried to get several pictures of me.
It was his baseball hat.
The bill part was bumping the flash part and keeping it from fully opening.
After that I would have to tell him to move his hat.

It is a Chinon Reflex Zoom.
There is a tele converter to attach to get even more zoom.
We got it in 1990 and it has served us well over the years.

Because of the size people often thought it was a video camera.
Nope it is not.

That strap would fit over our hand and that green button takes the picture.
I sometimes found it kind of bulky though.

Then we got our first digital camera.
We didn't have any choice since it was free.
Hubby's work was closing down and in clearing everything out,
this camera was never claimed as an expense by whomever bought it.
So it was given to us.
It has such a small screen.
I have been complaining about the small screen.
And was getting jealous of those with a camera with a bigger screen.

Here is the front of it.
It is a Canon Digital IXUSi with 4 mega pixels.
The zoom goes to 5.7x.

A side view.
See? The zoom lens does not even come out very far.
Not a lot of zoom capabilities.

It is a thin camera too.
It fits in my pocket or my purse easily.

I had two batteries for it. It uses special type of battery.
I was need to recharge them quite often.
I am beginning to master closeups and pictures using the macro setting.
And learning how to use more of the features on it.

Then voila Hubby decides to get me this camera.
Look at the size of the screen.
Such a relief to not be squinting at the screen.

It is a Canon Power Shot A1000IS.
It has an image stabilizer.
Zooms to 16X. Has 10.0 mega pixels.
And it is so much easier to jump between functions.
Like from normal to macro and back again.
Now that I am starting to understand some of the functions on the
previous camera,
I will learn them faster on this one I am sure.

This new one will still fit in my purse just fine.
Maybe not to well in my pocket.
Depends on the pocket.
I am very happy to get this new camera.
I will have fun getting acquainted with it and
learning to take terrific pictures with it.

Let's compare the view screens again.
Above the first digital camera we got.

And now the new one.
What a difference!
Happy Tuesday!

Isn't hard to believe how fast technology changes? I heard recently that the last polaroids had been made. Kids today don't have any idea about those cameras where the picture popped right out! Congrats on the new camera!
I've only had my Canon CyberShot for less than a year and I already want a bigger one. This one doesn't have 'stop motion' and that's the biggest upgrade I'd like to have. Oh well. It's lots of fun anyway. You'll love it.
Hello,
Great post , I really agree with
your comment on the last camera
and a large viewfinder - I just
love those !
Hugs ~

love the newest camera. i like a big screen too!
I would say big difference!;-) We have a Canon digi that looks like a regular camera because of the big lens and we just love it!
Great post!
I enjoyed seeing your camera collection. Good luck with your new camera. I am looking forward to seeing all the lovely pictures you take with it.
Have a great week.

Amazing how a little thing like that can work. Happy 3xTuesday.
Loved the "walk" through camera history, lol!
I still have my 35mm as does my hubby. In fact my 35mm still has film in it but the batteries died and I never replaced them. I need to replace the batteries, finish the film and get it developed. I can't even remember what could be on it.
Glad you got a new digi with a bigger screen. Have lots of fun with it!
Wow, hasn't technology changed. It's hard to catch up with it all. Your new camera is a dream. I know you will love it. Hugs, Marty
Film? they still make that? ;-P
Nice cameras. I LOVE that last one-- wow, great features.

Digital cameras have really been a blessing. You can instantly see what you have taken a photo of & because you can delete so easily, you can take hundreds of photos. I have a Sony Cybershot camera that I love. I would love to have a digital SLR camera, cause I love the picture quality, but I love the convenience of having a small camera to keep in my purse. It's come in handy too many times to count.
Does this mean we'll gett o see more scratch and sniff? hehe
We've come a long way. I worry though that too many people don't print off their digital pictures and we will lose all of those precious family photos.
I will no longer let my husband use my cameras as he has broken two of them although he swears he doesn't know how they end up with frozen shutters that won't open. Grrrr.
Cameras have come a long way!Happy Three or More Tuesday ~ Susan
