I decided it was about time I participated in
Vintage Thingies Thursday.
It has been awhile and I finally got organized enough
to take a few pictures of my Vintage Thingies.

But first I want to thank Suzanne at
And every week for that matter!
She keeps going while the rest of us jump in and out.
Ready?
Here goes!

Some of you may have seen this picture on my
Blue Monday post.
I talked about the BLUE thingies on that post.
But I did not talk about the Vintage Thingies.
So I will do that here.
One of the comments I got was about the lace doilies.
Those doilies are indeed Vintage.
I think it was my mother-in-law who made them.

Here is a close up of the little pitcher thingie.
I don't know how old this is.
But it was in my MIL's things when we were helping
her pack up to move.

The handle looks like it was made from a nail.
I am not really sure what it was used for.
Maybe nothing.
Could have been just for looks.
The word there on the side is "Frostburg".
Hubby thinks it may have come from Germany.
Which means it may have belonged to his paternal grandmother
who came from Germany.
Anyway, I have always loved it.
If anyone has any idea what it is,
be sure to let me know.
Thanks!

Now, what else was on that shelf.
Oh yeah, the contraption on the right.
A grinder of some sort.

Here is a close up of the side.
It says "Climax" along the top edge there.

Here, I'll move the handle.
That part says,
Pat. Pend.
Hamilton, Ohio
That pretty much tells us where it is from.
I found it at an Antique shop last year.
We need to go for a drive and visit that shop again.

Here is a side view of the glass thingie that goes in the top.
See how it is rounded on the bottom to match
the curve of the inside of the grinder.

Hey, there is a hole in the top!
You know, I never noticed that until I took this picture.
Silly me!
Okay Helmi, stop laughing at me!
I am guessing
the hole is for adding
either hot
or cold water depending
on what you are grinding.
~~~~
Did I just make a rhyme there?
It is time to come to a stop here.
So Happy Thursday Everyone!!
~Linnea~
PS Sally, if you are reading this...yes I have changed the date
on my little date thingie I have on the shelf. LOL!
Great display of "thingies" Linnea! :) I love the vintage signs...and that old pitcher. I think it's funny you just discovered that hole. You sound like me!
Hi Linnea..
very unique items you shared in here.. and I like the grinder.. super cool!
Great kitchen vintage thingies!...I have no idea what they were used for but they are great looking! Love the rustic little pitcher-the handle does look like a nail!
LOVE the little pitcher thingy, 'Nea!! Too cute! I love old kitchen stuff! Hope you are having a great week, sweetie!
Love and hugs,
Becky
Linnea, Welcome to VTT! What a great post. I just love that little pitcher, it is so unusual. I have never seen one like it at all. I was thinking maybe it would hang on the stove somehow and would heat syrup for pancakes? Just guessing.
I love your doilies too, they add such a sweet touch to your shelf.
My but what a very nice meat grinder, I have not seen one with a glass top. I think that is a real treasure.
Have a great VTT and thanks for showing off your vintage goodies today!
Great items today - love the grinder!!! Have a great day!
I am curious about that pitcher too.
Aren't great vintage kitchen gadgets so much fun. I love them all. Great collection. Hugs, Marty
You have some great vintage things!
Oh, and I don't normally garden in my flops but it was so hot that I kept getting my legs and feet in the little sprinkler I had going on some ground cover near me. I also knew I wouldn't be able to dig very deep in that bed and that Alan would have to end up tilling it deeper for me. I basically just had to dig up all of those bulbs. Boy it was hot!!!
Oooh, they're all so fascinating and fun!
Thanks for the tour! I just love vintage things...
I do so love vintage kitchen things, and yours is wonderful Happy VTT and have a lovely weekend.
What a great post! I actually have a grinder that's almost like that but mine has a wooden plunger insert thingie instead of a glass one. I use mine for grinding walnuts for nutroll. It grinds it super fine. I can't find anything else that grinds walnuts better than that old grinder.
Happy VTT!
Cathy
that grinder is FABULOUS..i love the doylies too!!
