Vintage Thingies Thursday-Clock

Suzanne at Coloradolady is our wonderful host
for Vintage Thingies Thursday.
Thank you so much Suzanne for being our wonderful host.
~~~~~~
I was at my mother's recently and noticed the old clock
was no longer on her mantel.
I asked her what happened to the clock.
She said she had it in her bedroom.
She was not using it because it hurt her hands to wind it.
I asked her if I could have the clock.
My brother has an old family clock
and my aunt does too.
So could I have that old family clock?
Mom said sure I could have it.
Then she said, but where are going to put it?
She asks me that everytime I get something.
Where are you going to put it?
I told her on the mantel that is around the wood stove
we don't use. But I use the mantel for displaying
season decor items.
Here is the old clock.
This clock belonged to my mother's father's mother.
In case you are confused, that was my
great-grandmother.
Or in other words, my grandfather's mother on
my mother's side.
In the background you can see the baseball
game on that B-Daddy was watching when I
took the pictures.
Inside of the clock.
The key to wind it hangs on the door.
The label which is hard to read.
But this clock was made around 1912.
So that means in a couple years,
this clock will be 100 years old!!
Here is the clock face with the glass door open.
You can see where we wind it up.
At the top is the place to adjust it to go a
little faster or slower.
But the key for that is missing.
When we wind up the clock it starts out fast
until it winds down some.
I did not put it on the mantel after all.
That is in the living room and
currently it is a diaster area.
So I put it on my pie safe in the family room.
Here it is on the pie safe.
Where it can be seen all the time.
I really like having it there.
It may not move to the living room after all!
Hope you all have a great Thursday!!
~Linnea~
P.S. Did anyone else besides me get these strange
looking posts on your dashboard from a blog you are not following?
They are in a foreign language and appear to be about
different viruses and technical thing like that.
There are 20 posts from this place.
They say they are posted by a noreply (at) blogger (d0t) com
from a blog called
Inspiraco Perfumes E Cosmeticos
I don't dare click on any of them.
What gets me is why are those showing up in my dashboard
when I am not following that blog?
Just wondered if anyone else was seeing them.
They also show as being posted 20 hours ago from when I am posting
this one.
~~~~~
Ok done now. :-)

What a wonderful old clock!! I love it. My father once had a very old clock similar to this from his father. One night after several, several years it started up again. We thought it was broken. We figured it was a sign from grand dad. :)

I haven't seen that strange post.

Have a great week, Linnea!

What a beautiful clock! I know you will treasure it for many years. I love old clocks like that. Wish you could see the one I have on my mantel. It is Diana the huntress, with a quiver and arrows with a deer and another animal. It is stunning! I can't remember if it works or not. I also have a small clock that belonged to my father's mother. I also got a beautiful wall clock when I retired, I chose it from a catalog.

The clock is lovely. I didn't get anything like that message on blogger, but did get a message that I wasn't following any blogs, which gave one big nervous moment of wondering if I could find all of my friends again. Luckily I went out and in again and you are all here. Hurray!

Did you change your border since yesterday? If not, I must have been half asleep cause I didn't notice it til today. Please don't think I was bragging about my clock cause I wasn't. My parents gave it to me when they were downsizing. I have so many things that they had and I love each and every one of my treasures. All these lovely things I have and my daughter doesn't care 2 hoots about it, even my dolls. Maybe I can put it all in my casket! Love ya Linnea! and Helmi too!

What a beautiful clock Linnea - it is so nice to have pieces like that from your family that's been passed down from one generation to the next! Love it -

I can't say that I have seen anything like what you are talking about on my blog and I haven't heard anyone say anything about it either? I will be on the lookout for it though - thanks for the heads up!

Have a good week -
