Linnea, I will be sure and make a point of visiting and reading the interview. I'm supposed to be traveling today (got delayed due to rain), but I'll do my best to get there today. :-)
Congratulations. That is such an honor! :-)
XO,
Sheila
That was a nice interview! I teach my kindergarteners how to sign our patriotic songs. I learned to sign the alphabet a long time ago. A couple of summers ago I met an online friend (who is deaf) in person and when she was having trouble reading my lips I was able to spell the word out for her.
Thanks for sharing your story.
take care,
Dawn
Great interview, Linnea! My father had a hearig disability in one ear, and I know how important it is to speak face to face. One of my best friend's brothers was completely deaf, and I tried to teach myself sign so I could communicate with him. Fortunately his lip reading was far better than my signing. :-)
Enjoyed your interview...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Oh,Linnea, that wonderful about your interview! I will go right now and read it! You're the bestest!
And you are a sweetie,

Linnea, It is an honor for you to be interviewed. I'm sure that you have a wealth of knowledge that will educate people. I worked in education and one area of services that is provided is interpreters to work with hearing impaired students. The interpreters are very skilled and there is a high demand for their services.

I am catching up on readiong the blogs. Oh dear sweet Linnea, I am so glad I made you laugh! Remember laughter IS the BEST medicine. Congrats on being interviewed! Were you nervous? Have a terrific weekend!!!
What a wonderful interview.
Our youngest has a fluctuating conductive hearing loss. He refuses to wear his hearing aides. He is missing out on so much, but still, those hearing aides sit in their box. Can't force him to wear them, but I keep on encourgaing him to do so.
You're a famous person now! And, I can say I knew you when!
Thanks for visiting and the well wishes for mom. She should be getting out soon (I hope)!
Have a good weekend ~
How fun! I'm heading over to check it out.
How Nice! Can't wait to head over there and read it which I'll do right now. I had no idea you were hearing impaired, Linnea. You obviously let nothing stand in your way on ANYthing!
What a woman!
Read it and really appreciated the information and the care and kindness invested in spreading the word. I admire you even more, Linnea!

Hi Linnea, That was a very nice interview. I learned some things I did not know. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
That is great, congratulations. I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Hi Linnea...I went and read the wonderful interview. Very informative...as I told Suzie, my mother was very hard of hearing, she wore two very poor quality hearing aids all her life...It even affected me, I was always getting into trouble in school and getting yelled at for talking too loud...That was all I knew. I couldn't control the volumne in school after talking loud at home...she never had t.v. with captions so she really must have missed out on alot...something I never thought about....
Hi,I'm a friend of the wonderful Muse and I have just posted a blog about her..please drop by and show her your support and love. Thanks and yes I will be back what a Wonderful blog :)))
Linnea, It was nice to read a little more about you. I have the exact opposite problem. I am blind in one eye and my hearing has over compensated. I hear everything. The slightest sounds sometimes irritate me. My children have learned that mom "can hear everything"!
I have a little gift for you on my Sunday post!
xo...Kathy
Linnea! Thank you for your very sweet comments on my essay over at Red Pine Mountain. :) Blessings!

Hope your day is beautiful, Linnea! Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Very nice interview Nommy! I liked it a lot. I'm glad that you two are getting the word out there! It's an important thing for people to understand the frustrations and ways to help those who are hard of hearing. I love you bunches! And I'm very proud of all of your accomplishments!
I will run right over now and read the interview! How exciting! I have always been so intrigued by those who do closed captioning...9it is an art form really.
I wil bet it was fin for you to be interviewed....okay, now I am off to read it!
Love,
Sue
Congrats on the interview. I will go check it out.
Ciao
I've been busy, and just finally found time to read your interview. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing your story.
I was frustrated recently when watching captioning. I had muted the TV for my boyfriend and I was reading the captioning, as I will sometimes do. I have often been amazed at how poor the captioning is much of the time. The person doing it appears to be a bad speller, poor typist, or both. The other day was especially bad, and I was very frustrated trying to interpret the typos and figure out what was actually trying to be said. I can't imagine how frustrating and/or exhausting it would be if I had to invest so much energy in just trying to figure out what is being said all of the time.
