Our Saturday Outing with Stella and Helmi

Today is the day we have been waiting for.
The day we take Stella and Helmi out and about.
So where did we go? Here is Stella in the car.
This is the road I drive on each day to work.
We get lucky today. We are between storms and it is a gorgeous day.
We noticed many other people out and about enjoying the beautiful weather.

See, Helmi is with us too. Stella and Helmi hitch a ride in my purse.

And they have their new purses that I made for them.

Here we are posing with a Charlie Brown sculpture.

Now where could we be?

Oh and as a side note in case you start asking about it,
yes I made the jacket I am wearing.
The year I made it I entered it in our local fair and won
Best of Division for Quilted Wear.
I was very surprised to win that ribbon.

Ok, now where were we?

So....this is where we are.

This is the Charles M Schulze Museum and Research Center.

This is our third visit here.

One of the visits here was to see Lynn Johnston in person.
That was when I got one of her collections autographed.
Lynn Johnston is the author and creator of For Better For Worse comic strip.

(That was in case, some of you didn't know who she is.)

Before we go in, we check out the Snoopy Labyrinth.

This is how it is shaped. I bought a postcard showing a bird's eye view of it.

Probably Woodstock's eye view.

I will have to scan the postcard and show it on another post later this week.

We walk the labyrinth. Here we pause at Snoopy's eyebrow.

You can see the sign of the museum in the background.

Then if we turn our heads to the left of the previous picture we see this.

That Snoopy's ice skating rink.

Charles Schulze did lots of ice skating here.

I have gone here with my kids, youth group from church and taken my cub scouts when I was a Den Mother.

We see this strange marking on the ground as we walk the labyrinth.

We wonder if Big Bird from Sesame Street came and left a big footprint.

This view is to show you what the pathways look like.
It was very pleasant to walk through the labyrinth.
None of us had ever done that before.

Here is another sculpture that is near the front doors.

Helmi and Stella climb up there to pose with Snoopy and Woodstock!

We discovered we are not allowed to take pictures in the galleries.

But it was okay in the Great Hall.

We get our hands stamped.

I asked the lady to put a stamp in Stella's passport.

She obliged.

I am also including an information sheet and map of the facility in the package of things

that are shipped with Stella.

This is what we see at the end of the Great Hall.

Here is a shot from farther back.

Know what this wall is made of?

Comic strips!!

Yep!

Each tile is a print of a Peanuts comic strip.

The daytime and night times scenes are arranged to create this picture.

Here is a closer shot of the tiles.

Here is Stella posing just under the strip about Snoopy sleepwalking.

This tile is located in the dark area of Lucy's chin.

Can you imagine the work it took to create this wall?
Here is the view of that same wall from the balcony!
That entire wall is comic strip panels printed on tiles!!

There are even comic strips in the bathrooms!

And in the stall area above the toilet!!

This close up is in one of the stalls.

Since we were in a public bathroom,

guess what we did?

Yep.

We did the Bathroom Diva thing!!

This time I have both Helmi and Stella being

Bathroom Diva's with me.
Here we are!

You can see the comic strips running along the wall in the stall behind me.

No, I did not take the time to read them all.

After we finish looking through the galleries ( remember no photos were allowed in those areas)

we went outside into the courtyard.

I did not realize until I was loading the pictures onto the computer that the

walkway made a zig zag pattern like on Charlie Brown's shirt.

You can see the gray walkway making that pattern here in the picture.

If you look carefully, you can see a kite in the tree.

Here is a big hat.

Charlie Brown under construction.

Helmi and Stella had to hop on this one for a picture.

There is the kite in the tree.

The green string is neon. I think when it is dusk you can see it light up.

It was too bright outside to see the lighting up part.

Linus with his blanket and a crossword puzzle on his shirt.

Here are the clues for that puzzle.

Evidently you can buy that puzzle in the museum store.

We did not get that one.

We were sure hungry after that.

Here are the girls in the booth at Arby's where we went for lunch.

We did more.

But I will share more pictures in later posts this week.

Some will be on Blue Monday.

And some on next Pink Saturday.

And others in between.

Come back to see what else we did on Saturday!

That was so cool!! Where is this place? I'm in N. Cal too...is it in the Santa Rosa area? I think I remember Charles Shultz being from that area. Looks like a fun place to go.

It looks like Stella is getting the VIP treatment and Helmi is quite the hostess!!

What an amazing day out. You all look to have had a fantastic time. We would have loved to walk the labyrinth and that wall made up of comic strips is a real work of art. Thanks for showing pictures of it from far and near. So Stella and Helmi are bathroom Divas too now and what a cool bathroom with the comic tiles. Thanks for a great day out I enjoyed experiencing the museum through Stella.

OMGoodness - Helmi and Stella's purses are adorable. I must start checking in on your sewing/craft site...I've been afraid that you'll inspire me to start a new hobby - but if I did that, it would cut into my blogging time...what to do, what to do?
Thanks so much for the "shout out" for help for Percy. I'm hoping that he will be returned by Monday evening. Those two are pretty sneeky. I really didn't know what happened to him, and I worried all day on Firday, that one of the kids in the apartment complex, had snatched him!

SO cute! I loved this trip to the Schultz Museum, and it looks like the girls had fun. I'm still not convinced that Helmi isn't behind that kidnapping... just for fun, of course, but we'll have to wait and see. Annie is here under lock and key for an infraction last week, so it can't be her! ;-)

That was a lot of fun, Linnea, and that is one snazzy jacket. I can see why it won a prize. It is some kind of cute! :-)

XO,

Sheila :-)

What a great field trip. I adore Peanuts. Peppermint Patty is one of my favorites. And Snoopy of course.

Hi Linnea, this is a fabulous post! What a great place to take Stella and Helmi! It doesn't get any better than Charlie Brown! I'm so excited that Stell gets to be a Bathroom Diva too--I hope you send the picture to Shelia. You have shown Stella such a great time, thank you again. I'm sorry I haven't posted and commented sooner--life has just gotten away from me this past week!
