Spending the Day with Helmi and Stella

I was going to go to work today. But as I was getting ready, I started not feeling well. Upset stomach, really bad headache, and general all over achyness. Just plan feeling yucky. So I called in sick. I took some time to just relax in my recliner and watched some TV. Nearly fell asleep doing that, but not quite. Was bundled in a blanket and cozy for the most part.
In the afternoon I decided to try to do a few things.
I am scheduled to be substitute organist on the 15th. This would be a good time to go over the hymns for that day. My mother had given them to me already. She is on the worship committee and helps to plan the hymns and such.
Oh dear, I should have guessed Helmi and Stella would want to help me practice. I explain you can't really help me practice. I have to do that by myself. I told them they can help by being good.
Yeah, right!
I need you girls to move, you are blocking my music.
Sitting on the keyboard does not help either girls.
But we want to watch you practice.

Ok you two can sit over here next to my book.
Here, you can help by holding the post it note with the hymn numbers on it. I know I spelled hymns wrong on the post it. Guess I was writing fast.

Here you can hold some of my little post its too.
What are those for?
I use those to mark the hymns I am playing so I can find them quick during the service. I won't find out the hymn of the day until a few days before. The pastor picks that one out to go with sermon for the day.
Thank you Helmi and Stella for being good while I practice. Now I need to make some ginger tea. My stomach is upset again.
See I have the tea bag in the teapot I got from my secret pal last month. But first I have to heat some water.
I think I will use this teacup and saucer for my tea today. I think this used to be my grandmother's. I have never actually used it before. You girls get to see me use it for the first time.
Now you can see the saucer.
Helmi and Stella think it has an interesting pattern. They wonder where it comes from.

Well, this is what the bottom looks like. St. Peters-Graz it says there.
Maybe someone can tell us just what that means. Because I am not sure. I am not super knowledgeable about this stuff.

You two watch the timer while the tea steeps and I will start getting the soup ingredients together.
Soup? What soup?
The recipe comes from this book. It seems I have had this book forever and the soup recipe is about the only thing I have made from it I think.
Here we go, here is the recipe. Spanish Rice Soup. You can make it with beef or pork. This time I am going to use ground pork.
Why?
Because we like the way it tastes using pork.
Oh, my tea is ready. Time to pour it. It is a very light colored tea.
It does feel good going down my throat and into my tummy.
I hope it helps to settle it some.
Ok, we have now pulled together the ingredients for the soup.
See, the celery is chopped. Helmi and Stella are fascinated by all this.
Here is some rice. For this recipe we need long grain rice. Not instant rice.
Doesn't that look yummy? This recipe always tastes better the next day. So I go ahead and put it in the fridge to cool. But we have it for dinner anyway with some biscuits.
Yummy!

Hope you are feeling better, can't be sick for the weekend. I am glad you have such good helpers there to comfort you. I imagine they could get into trouble if not being watched closely. You know how sneaky little girls can be as I speak from experience. The cup and saucer are unusual. Very pretty!

The soup looks yummy. I hope you feel a lot better, very soon.

I think that you might be consuming a little too much cough syrup. Hee hee.

Maybe you should send Helmi and what's her name, over to my place, to play with Percy. You don't want them catching what you have.

Linnea - Thank you for visiting my post yesterday and I am sorry to hear that you didn't feel very well. Now, your granma's tea cup, I believe it's from Austria. Graz is the second largest city next to Vienna and located in Steiermark. St Peter is possibly a name of the company, St Peter Keramik, I think. Take care. Chloe Patricia

Glad you were feeling enough better this afternoon to work on the music. I LOVE hymns. They're like old friends. How wonderful that you can play the organ....not many can.
