Vintage Thingie Thursday

This is my first time to participate in Vintage Thingie Thursday.

Thank you to Suzanne at Coloradolady for hosting this special day.

I am showing you a toy trash truck that was my husband's when he was a young lad.

He remembers playing with this truck with his younger brothers in their backyard in the dirt area before the grass was planted.

I have several views of the truck here. Above is a side view.
This view has the lever lift thing up and the door on top open so that the trash can be dumped inside the truck.

The hydraulic part still works. The door on the back opens to allow the trash to be dumped out at the dump.

Here is a front view.

Another view that shows the color of the truck better. The cab part is a real dark blue/green color. The truck is in amazingly good condition. Especially considering how much it was played with over the years my husband and his brothers were growing up.

We were browsing an antique shop a couple of weeks ago and we saw this same truck in one of the booths there. It did not have as much color as this truck and it was in much worse condition. More dents and rust. The asking price??????

$175.00!!!!!!!

We couldn't believe it when we saw that. We now wonder what this one would be worth since it is in much better condition than that one.

Hi, dear lady...that is a cute cute little vintage truck. I know vintage toys sell for a lot of money...
Thanks for sharing this one with us.

Hey 'Nea!! Hope this finds you well! How's my friend?

Love this post! $175...awesome. It's fun to know what stuff is worth even if you're not going to sell.

Have a blessed day,
Becky

This is wonderful. I was just thinking as I was reading that this must be worth quite a bit. I have never seen one of these, but I just love it. Yours is in very good condition and I am sure the price would be much more than the one you saw. But the memories attached to it are priceless no doubt. Lovely item.

Welcome by the way to VTT, I was so locked in to this great post that I almost forgot to welcome you...shame on me! I am glad you are here and participating with us! We have lots of fun and I am looking forward to next week and seeing what you have to show!

$175!!! Oh, yours is probably worth BIG BUCKS! I collected Match Box cars when I was a kid, if you can believe it, and I would give anything if my mom had kept them!

Thank you for showing us the truck. How lucky your husband kept this treasure!

I can see why the one in the store was 175. My dad is very into vintage toys and I"ve never seen anything like this, so it's probably pretty rare. It looks almost brand new, too.

I didn't know they made toy trash trucks. Glad he kept it.

Just loved this truck, LOL. Easy living too.
My DH thinks that you destroys panel and ceilings that are in wood and then people paint them. That goes with floors too. In many interior programs they paint the floors black and he gets so angry, ha, ha.
Hope you have a nice day.

Isn't that so special to still own that truck? Its in great condition too. I don't recall seeing one like that when I was young. I wish now that I had some of the things/toys I had or my boys had when they were small.

And its worth good money too..that makes it extra special though you would never part with it.

Enjoy and have a lovely day.
thank you for the compliment on my tassel too. :o)

Welcome Linnea to VTT. I am so happy you've joined us. I was wondering if you would since I've seen some vintage pieces in your previous posts. I love vintage toys. With this truck in good condition and still working it is no surprise it could get that price.

How lucky for you and hubs to still have this piece. Vintage toys have a way of making us feel young again. Thanks for sharing. Welcome to VTT. Hope to see more of your treasures.

Thanks for the great posting - glad you saved that truck! Old things can be worth some money now, but some are just too precious - can't sell those memories!

That looks like something my brother would have loved to play with when he was little! He loved his TONKA toys!

That's really adorable - that's the thing about finding out it may be worth a lot - deciding to keep it for the memories, or sell ...Hmm..

It's a very cool truck. Isn't it weird to find out it's worth so much money.

Oh I just LOVE old toys, they're my favorite and his little truck is to be cherished.

What a nice truck--and even more special that your husband played with it as a child!

I'm glad you said that was a trash truck cause it looked like an old timey camper on the back of a pickup truck to me! We have some of my Dad's toys from when he was a boy. They're about 85-90 yrs old and mean so much to us.

My old eyes aren't cooperating with the black on purple print but the truck looks so cool! Must be quite a story to that!!

Don't you love finding things that have a history and wonderful story? I can't stay out of any 'junque' store. Never know what you'll find.

Woooooo, that's a price tag, girl! Toys are always a hit, and that just proves it! :-)

I'm running around trying to catch up from being gone for a week. It's been nuts here. Will be until after the 21st. Please keep me in your prayers for calm waters.

XO,

Sheila :-)

That truck is just adorable!
There's really nothing quite like vintage toys. I had quite a few old wooden toys growing up and wrought iron banks. Those were all older than me but they sure were cool. Not like I could have managed to break them either! :)
