Our Weekend(yes, last weekend)

I am just now getting around to posting about last weekend and here it is Thursday already. I have been busy reading other blogs, I don't get around to posting my own. Although I did get this week's Pink Saturday and the next Blue Monday ready to autopost. Nice to have those done already.

Saturday was mainly a stay at home and get things done day. I took care of household things like laundry, ironing, clean the kitchen, clean the bathroom and that sort of thing. I also spent some time practicing the piano to prepare for next Sunday as substitute organist. In addition I looked over the lessons I was to read last Sunday as Assisting Minister. I also did some sewing related things(see my sewing blog for that part). So all in all it was a busy Saturday.

Sunday we were gone basically all day. We go to church in another town which takes us about 1/2 hour to get to. My husband went first since the choir was singing at both services. I went over later in time for my job as Assisting Minister at second service. We also did a Blessing of the Pets in honor of St. Francis. Made for an intersting service. We did not have pets brought to the service, rather people brought pictures of pets past and present. I brought a picture of our Sheltie, Shanti, who died in 2002. We currently do not have any pets right now. It was a very nice service.

We also had to go to a BBQ that was being held for the therapists group. It was a chance to see other therapists who work for the same company, but in different facilities. A nice chance to hang out together outside of work. Our plan was to go home, drop off one car, stop and pick up something to take to the BBQ potluck and get there somewhat late. I had warned the hostess we would be late due to our participation in the church services that morning.

Well, we discovered my husband had left the lights on in his truck and they had been on all morning. Grrrr! Okay, so we decided to leave the truck in the church parking lot and come back and deal with that later. We drive the 1/2 hour back home, change clothes, go to the store for a dessert to take along and grab a Starbuck's for the drive. It is about a 45 minute drive to the where the hostesses lives from where we are. We finally get there about 2 hours after the start of the gathering. Yay, there is still food left and someone else arrives after us. So we were not the last ones there. Whew. The hostess has an awesome view from her front deck. The picture below shows the wonderful view she gets to see everyday.

Isn't that an awesome view? I would love to have a view like that to look at everyday. After we say our goodbyes it was back to the church to try to start the truck. That was over an hour drive to get back. We find a Starbuck's again to drink during the drive.

Fortunately, my husband has jumper cables in the truck. We thought fortunately at first. Huh? Turns out they were not good enough. We tried several times to jump start from my car to no avail. We did not really want to call AAA, because we wanted to save those calls for a tow if we need it. I suggested my husband call my dad to find out how old these jumper cables are. Dad didn't know, but said he would bring the ones he had. So we wait for him. It is getting dark now and we needed flashlights to see what we were doing. Dad gets there with jumper cables and another flashlight. Yay! The truck starts on the first try! We must have bad jumper cables. We finally get home at I don't know what time. But what a long day with lots of driving.

Needless to say, my husband has bought new jumper cables replace the other ones that don't appear to work.

What a gorgeous, gorgeous view. I'd never want to leave home. You've actually just given me an idea for my son's birthday present. He just bought a new car and I'll bet he doesn't have jumper cables.

Wow sounds like you had a very busy weekend! And I like how you immediately corrected your jumper cable issue....me...it would have been a couple months before I remembered to replace them! And your friend is soooo lucky to have such an amazing view!
