My First Tablescape

Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch hosts Tablescape Tuesdays. I have been following the Tuesday Tablescapes, but had never participated. I decided to take pictures of my Thanksgiving table with idea in mind of using it for a Tablescape Tuesday. So here we are at my first time.
The first mosiac shows my Thanksgiving Table centerpiece and an overall view of the table. I used the Currier and Ives set of dishes that I inherited from my mother-in-law. I usually use these dishes for the winter time gatherings. The pictures on the dishes make me feel like it is appropriate for winter time use. I like to have a pitcher of ice water on the table. This time I used a white one with a blue rim and set it on a desert plate to keep the drips off the table. I actually don't remember where I got the pitcher from. I think most were handed down to me from various family members. I remember picking one up at a thrift store one time. This one may have been the one from the thrift store. I made the napkins one year, but sadly I did not get a good enough closeup of the napkins.

This mosiac has closeups of the different dishes. The first is the dessert plate on top of the dinner plate. Then the dinner plate on the top right. The bottom row shows the saucer that the cup sits on, then the cup. The stemware is from Princess house. Also inherited from my mother-in-law. I used the footed beverage glasses for water and the smaller size of the wine glasses for the dinner wine. The pie was served on the dessert plates.
Thank you to Susan for being the gracious host of Tablescape Tuesdays. Click here to visit her for more tablescapes.

Hi again! It would be really thrilling if I knew your relatives, that's for sure. Sometimes the world is very small. I hope you'll remember to ask as it would be very nice to know where they came from.
I've been very busy this weekend with the 20 years celebration at work on Friday evening. my DH's granddaughters 5th birthday on Saturday and decorating for Advent on Sunday. Everything seems to take so much more time nowadays.
Hope you have a nice day.
Love Elzie

That turkey centerpiece looks really bright with the Fall colors. That water pitcher is an excellent idea. No need to take in more calories in what is already a calorie laden meal.
The Currier & Ives looks like a classic and the stemware sets it off really well.

Hi Linnea, Your dishes are lovely! I think I goofed up, I was supposed to participate in Tabletop Tuesday, and I didn't know what to do. I'm still new to all of this! Maybe I'll just go back and repost the photo of Thanksgiving! I now I know what to do for next time!

I grew up on those dishes! I even have a few that I mix in with my own set of blue and white, although a different pattern, still looks good! Very nice!

Using family dishes make a feast such as Thanksgiving even better! Your place settings look so lovely! Thank you for mentioning Advent! Shame on me! Of course, we celebrated the first Sun. in Advent at Church, but I keep forgetting to get out our candles! I used to have an Advent wreath like yours, but it got to where the candles wouldn't stand up straight in it, so I got rid of it----and keep forgetting to replace it. I end up using four free standing candle holders and placing them within a wreath---so NOW I must go dig out my candles! Thanks for the reminder! Dana
