Nope, not me and other things including Helmi!

Some of you have probably seen Lynnette's L.A.M. blog with her Nope, not me posts. Well, I have one incident this week.
I did not wear two different shoes to work and Friday and not discover that until Saturday morning. Nope, not me!
Today was the day of the Women's Luncheon and the reveal of the Secret Sisters and also to draw names for our new Secret Sister for next year.
It was time to put on my shoes. So I look under the computer desk which is where I seem to kick them off every day after work.
This is what I find! A black shoe and a brown shoe. Both have my arch support inserts in them of which I only have one pair. So that means I must have worn a black shoe and a brown shoe to work yesterday. I can't believe I never noticed that!
Also no one ever said anything to me at work either. I don't know if no one noticed. Or if they did not want to embarrass me by pointing out I had two different shoes.
Boy! Anyone who noticed must have thought I was off my rocker!
I still kind of blush at that thought.
I wonder if anyone will say anything to me on Monday.
Here is the other 1/2 of each pair of shoes, next to my pink and white shoes which were all by the recliner where I sat down to put on my shoes on Friday.

Let's double check before I go to the Luncheon that I have on two matching shoes.
Yep I do.
Ok, on to the next step.

This is the outside of the form we use to fill out our information so that our new Secret Sister knows our special days and so forth.

Here is the inside. There is another page attached like the page on the right which gets torn off. That part is kept by the keeper of the names with the name of the person who draws that name written on the back. That way if there is any question someone who is not doing this can look up in any needed info. I had to ask one time when I could not find the slip for my Secret Sister and couldn't not remember her birthday and such.
I got this book and bookmark for my Secret Sister.
I also included this cross necklace I had bought at the Women's Triennial Convention in Salt Lake City in July. In case you are wondering, I am not Mormon, I am Lutheran. It was interesting to have the convention in Salt Lake City. It was held at the Salt Palace Convention Center. My mother and I stayed at the Hilton Hotel which was nearby. I also included a package of pretty beverage napkins and a bag of M&M's since she loves M&M's.
I also included this card with name in it. I happen to be sitting next to the gal who was my Secret Sister. She had kind of guessed it might be me. Also the gal on my other side also received this same card from her Secret Sister.
Here are some of the gifts for Secret Sisters. Not everyone who attends participates in this fun activity. The gift I gave my Secret Sister is on the left with the butterflies on the bag.
Soup and bread was the lunch. I had Roasted Tomato Soup which was very good. No, I don't know the recipe. This was dessert. One lady has several different sets of Demitasse cup and saucers. A pudding dessert was served in them. Isn't that a cute way to serve dessert? I did not get pictures of the other two designs of cups that was used.
While I was attending the Luncheon, hubby was getting the brakes replaced on my car. So he drove me to the church and then went on to the brake place. Good thing we were doing that. The guy doing the brake job, said as he drove the car into the repair stall or whatever "My God they need brakes." It was getting bad. Now hubby can stop worrying about me losing the brakes while driving to and from work. I think he had visions of me getting into an accident.
Anyway, my mom had to take me to where he was since I was done with my thing before he was done with the car. I have mentioned before that our church location and where we live are two different towns.
Many of you so enjoyed pictures of the scenery around our area I thought I would take pictures as we were driving home. A big contrast to last week. We have had rain with more coming. In this picture that white building used to be a dairy. When I was a child, every year the first graders took a field trip to this dairy. I remember getting to drink chocolate milk and getting a ruler with the name of the dairy on it. It is a goat farm now. I am not sure what they do there.

More of our drive in the gloomy weather. We were behind that car for quite a ways. When the sun is shining you can see mountains/hills in the distance there.
This winery/farm has palm trees all along their driveway. That thing in the middle is a windmill. Those are turned on when there is danger of frost when the vines are budding. We do get spring frosts. You can see some sun peeking through the clouds and shining on the hills in the background.
We stopped along a less traveled road to get this shot. I sat in the car to get it putting the vineyards right at eyelevel. I wouldn't mind living in that house!
Does anyone recognize this house?

Here is another view. There were other people walking around and taking pictures of this house. Now why would that be?
I am not going to tell you.
I want to see who might know what this house is here.
Then we stopped here. Hubby buys their coffee all the time. Each time he gets a pound he gets his little card stamped. When he has 10 stamps, then he gets the next pound free.
This is the kind he usually gets there.
Then we go to the grocery store before we go home. Boy, this is turning into a long day.
Helmi really missed us since we did not take her along. She jumped into the bags of groceries.
Helmi, I need you to get out of the bags. How can I put away the food if you are playing in the bags? Silly Helmi!
Some of the pictures make it look like she does not have any eyes.
Yep, Helmi has eyes.
Helmi tells me to get the camera out of her face.
Helmi, now what are you doing??
I want to see what you go from your Secret Sister.
Well, climb back out of there and I will show you.
Look at what all I got! There is the Godiva Chocolate covered strawberries, a box of tea and a box of shortbread. And cute little teapot. The blue thing is the card with the gal's name in it. I had no clue who it was. So I was very surprised.
Here is another picture of the teapot. The basket goes inside and sits along the rim of the opening. So cute. I guess I better make my self some tea more often.
Helmi is trying to steal my Godiva chocolates from me.
Whew! Sorry I had so many pictures. I hope it did not cause problems for you all to view this post. But I had so much going on today. Today included some crafting, but that is on my craft blog. Helmi helped with that too.

LOL, Linnea about the shoes! We are more alike than we ever dreamed! Loved all the Secret Sister goodies, the tour, and Helmi crawling into the bags! Now, tell us, what is that house? Could it be a place where people marry? Like a wedding chapel? Just a guess...

XO,

Sheila :-)

P.S. That food shot made me HUNGRY!

Great "nope, not me" Sorry you wore two different colors but they look a lot alike - does that help.

The picture tour was great and loved all the goodies your secret sister got for you - what a treat!!

Oh I'm trying to think if I would have said anything about someone showing up in two different shoes
:0)
You got some great gifts from your pal! Love the teapot!
That's a great house but I don't know it's significance except for I'd like to live in it :0)

I just giggled outloud when I read the shoe part!!! I did that recently, too (shhhhh, I don't want my friends to know! ) When I got home from a day of running errands, I kicked off my shoes in the kitchen and continued putzing around for awhile. Later I glanced at them and gasped! OMG--I couldn't believe it, but then it got kinda funny!
Now sign up on time with Beverly this week! :) Dana

The shoe story cracked me up. I actually did that many years ago when I was working. I had the same shoes in black and navy. I never noticed it until I got to work. I had to go all day with different colored shoes. lol
Also, the pics outside there look like where we went last year in Calif. We drove from San Franciso to Napa Valley and then on to Sacramento. I loved stopping to take pictures of all those grape vines. It is so beautiful there.

Perhaps nobody noticed about your shoes. That's so funny!!!
I love the Secret Sister idea. I love what you bought for your sister and also what you receievd too. I especially liked the black teapot. Looks like Helmi has her eye on the chocolates!
I really enjoyed the pictures you took of your journey. I never tire of seeing new places. I have no idea what the beautiful white house is. Please tell??

Hi Linnea
Thats funny about the shoes. I read some of the other comments and others have done it too...so have I. In grade 11 of all things. I was in class and happened to look down at my feet. I almost died. I can't recall whether too many people even noticed but I was embarrassed anyway.

You had a busy day...glad your brakes are fixed. The gifts you received from your secret sister are sooo nice. I see Helmi likes the milk chocolate strawberries...me too.. yum!

About your comment to me. My mother makes those pinwheels and they are a lot of work. I have actually never made them. They had prunes in the middle right? I think it could be figs also my mom puts prunes. Do you have pulla the Finnish coffee braid bread?

hope you've had a great day

Sounds like you had a good time!! I'm so glad!! About the two different shoe thing...if I had noticed and you were a buddy I would say something. If I wasn't considered a "friend" of yours, I'd say nothing.

I can't figure out the house!! It's not the Father of the Bride house, right? I didn't remember it having a front porch. Oh! I don't have any guesses even!!
Have a wonderful week, 'Nea!!
May God richly bless all you put your hands to!!

I'm glad you had such a fun time at the luncheon! I can't wait to see what you're going to do for your new secret sister! I remember the couple years that I did that. It was a lot of fun. I'm glad that you are still involved in it. Fun!

Yes, the shoe story is funny. One Sunday the worship director had on 2 different shoes and when he realized it, he said so during church...and we all laughed:)
What a fun day and fun treasures from your secret sister.
Happy Monday...and look down before you leave the house :) LOL
Warmly,
Deb

Helmi is adorable! She and Farley would make a cue couple.

I once wore two different earrings - but shoes? You crack me up!

At least you had another pair just like 'em at home :-)
